Flay Square 7″ Pattern

What You Need:
* Small amount of yarn
* Size H crochet hook

Start With: ch5 join to make a loop.

Round 1: ch3, 2dc, ch1. *3d, ch1* 3 times, join.

Round 2: ch3, dc in same stitch as ch3. 2dc in next 2 dc, ch2. *2d in next 3 stitches, ch2* repeat 3 times, join.

Round 3: ch3, dc in same a ch3, dc in next stitch. 2dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch 2 times till corner space. *ch2, dc, ch2 in corner space. (2dc next stitch, 1 dc in next stitch) 3 times more across side* repeat 2 times then ( ) 1 time. join.

Round 4: ch3, dc next 8 stitches. <strong*(ch1, 1tr, ch3, 1tr in next dc, ch1) dc in next 9 stitches* repeat 3 times them ( ) 1 time. join.

Round 5: ch3, dc next 8. *ch1, dc in next stitch, (dc, tr, ch3, tr, dc) in corner space. dc in next stitch, ch1, dc next 9 stitches.* repeat 2 times. repeat ( ) 1 time. join.

Round 6: ch1, sc in same sp as joining. sc in each stitch & ch space around. In corner 2sc, ch2, 2sc. join.

Round 7: ch1 sc in same as joining. sc around. sc, ch2, sc in corners. join.

    I have tried your pattern and made several blocks. It is so easy to remember and works up beautifully.

    I did make a couple of changes to your terminology which made it more understandable for me. For example, the section in parentheses in Round 4, I changed to read “(ch1, tr in the dc, ch3, tr in same dc, ch1)”…

    On Round 5, I changed it to read “…*ch 1, dc in next tr, (dc, tr, ch3, tr, dc) in corner space, dc in next tr, ch1, …”

    It works really well and I am now planning to keep going to make it into a 12″ square, but don’t think I’ll keep the flay pattern going any farther. Maybe I can add a photo here?
